I mean, that’s certainly a possibility, but it’s the kind of explanation that seems like a cop-out for me. I think as i’ve gotten older, art that’s vapid/poorly constructed/bad on purpose has become way less compelling to me, mainly because it seems so basic, but also because it makes me think that the artist didn’t care enough to put more effort into it. And if they don’t care, why should i?
